Burger Bash and Summer Heat
Burger Bash this Tuesday! Summer solstice in two weeks! So many Margle shows!
Hi friends,
Here we are, already a week into June and 95 degree days are again the norm. I find myself spending morning hours in the field, afternoons at the pool, and then retreating into the dark and cool house, the curtains drawn, the din of the swamp cooler keeping the heat at bay and my mind occupied. I relish in the layers of our schedule; getting the essentials checked off the list and allowing the spaces between to-do’s to be filled with gentleness: cooking a meal, reading a few pages, laying down and resting our eyes.
It is hot out and there is a never-ending amount of tasks to be done. We are actively shifting our go-go-go mentality and looking squarely in the face of our mountain of work and chipping away at it every day… Then stepping back and appreciating the tasks that we completed, finding quiet satisfaction that we are doing enough… that we are enough. Our value should not be reliant upon the amount of work that we’ve achieved, the length of our to-do lists, the aching of our bodies. Can we instead assess value based on the depth of our connections? The attention we give our loved ones? The satisfaction of a job done well? The ability to listen to our callings, and make decisions accordingly? I certainly hope so.
Summer solstice is fast approaching, and I do find myself energized by these longer days and the abundance they bring. The calendar is full of events and celebrations, the garden is buzzing with life, music and delicious meals are plentiful.
